Hypothetical example

One missed call, two outcomes.

This is a made-up example. "Hill Country Comfort Air" is not a real business, and there are no real customers or numbers here. It walks through what a caller goes through when a small Austin HVAC shop misses a call, with and without an AI agent picking up.

The setup. It's a hot August afternoon in Austin. The owner is in an attic on a job across town and the office line rings. A homeowner in Round Rock has no cooling and is calling HVAC companies from a search.

Version A: the call goes to voicemail

  1. The phone rings four times while the owner is in the attic. Nobody can pick up.
  2. The caller hears a generic voicemail greeting. They don't leave a message, or they leave a short one with half a phone number.
  3. They hang up and call the next company on the list.
  4. About two hours later, the owner climbs down, sees a missed call and calls back.
  5. The homeowner says thanks, but someone else is already on the way.

Version B: the AI agent answers

  1. The call rolls over to the AlphaTex voice agent after a few rings.
  2. The agent answers in the shop's name, asks what's going on, and gets the address, the problem (no cooling) and a callback number.
  3. It offers open time slots from the shop's calendar and the caller picks one.
  4. The owner gets a text with the details and confirms the booking with one tap. The customer doesn't hear yes until the owner does.
  5. The caller gets a confirmation text and stops calling around.

What changed

The owner still did the work and still made the call on the booking. The only difference is that someone picked up while the owner couldn't. That's the job the agent does.
